5th Symposium of Bolivarian Students

Place: Museum Quinta de Sn Pedro Alejandrino Santa Marta Colombia
The 5th Syposium of Bolivarian Students takes place in the museum "Quinta of San Pedro Alejandrino" in Santa Marta, where the liberator of the Americas, Simón Bolívar, died. It contributes to the central aim of this institution which is the study of the ideas and actions of the liberator Simón Bolívar in the light of the historical processes of the different American democratic nations. This event belongs to the celebrations of the bicentenary of the Colombian Independence Day.
El VI Simposio Estudiantil Bolivariano, en la Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino de Santa Marta, da continuidad a un propósito central de esa Institución, en tanto la reflexión sobre las acciones y el pensamiento de El Libertador Simón Bolívar nos sitúa en el cauce de posibilidades históricas de las naciones y repúblicas americanas en su destino democrático. Este evento se enmarca en la Celebración del Bicentenario de la Independencia.

This charming Caribbean musician has reached a great fusion between the traditional Vallenato music and contemporary rhythms, and he will now start his "Tour of Success," which will end in our beautiful city of Santa Marta, Colombia!
Carnival of Barranquilla

Place: Barranquilla, Colombia
Barranquilla's Carnival is a carnival with traditions that date back to the 19th century. It takes place for four days preceding Ash Wednesday. During the carnival the city of Barranquilla's normal activities are paralyzed because the city gets busy with street dances, musical and masquerade parades. Barranquilla's Carnival is reputed for being second in size to Rio's. The Barranquilla Carnival includes dances like the Spanish paloteo, African congo and indigenous mico y micas. Many styles of Colombian music are also performed, most prominently cumbia, and instruments include drums and wind ensembles. The Carnival of Barranquilla was proclaimed by UNESCO, in November 2003, as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity."Who lives it is who enjoys it!" From Santa Marta, you may reach Barranquilla in only 1.5 hours by bus.
